Biggest Event So Far... ...is relocating from a trailer at the WLSC broadcast tower site off Red Bluff Road into downtown Loris. Jack's business plan described a location somewhere on Main Street where advertisers and listeners could "see us" and stop in to visit. The plan described a "Mayberry" small town, friendly, radio station with the community of Loris in mind. A station that was visible and accessible to the businesses and residents of Loris. Honestly, the business plan called for an office downtown within a year or two of ownership. Then, the plan was to acquire a location next to it with room for live music performances - bluegrass, country and gospel. Why wait? It's all about location, right? Driving through Loris on a rainy Saturday evening in July, the future owners sat at a traffic light at the intersection of Broad and Main. They stared at a corner building with a "for rent" sign in the window. The location was so visible. It featured a rounded corner window - perfect for an "on air" studio. So, that's history, and also WLSC's new office! After a few months of renovations, WLSC moved in and began broadcasting from 4164 Main Street (the corner of Highway 9 and Highway 701) adjacent to the "American Hero" Sub & Bagel shop. What's next? Well, if you got the location, you might as well make sure nobody misses it. How about a jazzy sign...like a theatre style marquee...like the one in Mt. Airy, NC? Something that people could use as a landmark. Well, how 'bout that? |
