Welcome to WLSC 1240 AM. The station signed on in the summer of 1958 and has had a couple of owners (history). Recently purchased by Banana Jack Murphy Productions, WLSC is getting a fresh look, a new home, a bunch of new programs and, at nearly 50 years of age, gone worldwide. (Pretty impressive for a 1000 watts, eh?)

Jack is "old school" when it comes to radio. With a degree in broadcasting from Central Carolina Jack set out to accomplish a goal he'd had since he was 5 years old - to work in radio and TV. He was enchanted with radio throughout childhood, even becoming a Yankees fan because he listened to the games on his transistor radio as a boy. He ran a successful DJ business in the Raleigh area after high school, where he also worked for several radio stations. In April 1989, Jack came to the Grand Stand as the morning show talent for Rock 101.7 WKZQ where he became known by most as Banana Jack Murphy.

Owning a radio station has been a dream of his (to the surprise of his wife). With 25 years experience in broadcasting, it's ironic that Jack actually started at an AM station in North Carolina that played country and gospel. Congratulations, Jack, check another goal off the list!
